Sunday, March 23rd - Friday, March 28th, 2003:
We skied at Heavenly in Lake Tahoe, CA this year, staying at Caesar's in Lake Tahoe, NV. If you weren't aware, you can cross the street to travel from Nevada to California on the main strip there.

Lake Tahoe is gorgeous! Much prettier in scenery than Colorado, but of course, the powder isn't as nice. This won't be our last trip to Tahoe...we may even move there someday!

To see details of our trip, see the notes for each series of photographs below and click on each photo for a larger version.

Sunday, March 23rd - Monday, March 24th, 2003:
We flew into Reno, NV and stayed for the night at The Hilton beside the airport. The next morning, we drove over the pass through Incline Village to Lake Tahoe and were so awestruck by the beauty that we took these shots along the way.

Wednesday, March 25th, 2003:
We skied Heavenly on Tuesday but it rained Wednesday and only two lifts were open, so we had to find something else to do. We thought about heading to San Francisco, but it's a three hour drive, so we would have had to turn right back around and leave as soon as we got there. Instead, we drove to Placerville through Highway 50 on the way to Sacramento where we had a beer at The Hanging Tree, which was a bar built on the spot where a tree once stood where outlaws were hanged. We toured the town a little then left and drove down Highway 49 to Coloma, CA, where a sawmill stands where the actual first gold flake was discovered, beginning the California Gold Rush. For $3 you can tour the town of Coloma, CA, which is set up with old buildings and artifacts dating back to the Gold Rush.

We skied Maggie's Run at Heavenly Lake Tahoe, pretty much all day Thursday and had a great time. It was a nice blue run with semi-decent snow and a gorgeous view of Lake Tahoe on the lifts and at the top of the run. Bonus: I didn't get hurt this time! :D
