Saturday,
October 6, 2001 from 10:30AM to 12 Noon at the Delta Cultural Center's
Visitor Center, 141 Cherry Street a panel discussion about how local
radio in the Delta helped popularize blues music will be held. Focusing
on the role of stations like KFFA (Helena, AR), KWEM (West Memphis,
AR), WDIA (Memphis, TN) and WROX (Clarksdale, MS) the historian Louis
Cantor, Professoremeritus at Indiana University and author of the
definitive history of WDIA and blues expert Peter Aschoff, Professor
at University of Mississippi along with a third guest, to be announced
will offer their input and then open the floor to a Q & A session.
Presented by
the Delta Cultural Center, a museum of the Department of Arkansas
Heritage, the admission is free and open to the public.
